Extras v ICT
What a match at the KK Champions Trophy this past Saturday. Extras batted first at Moin Khan cricket ground and lost opener Faisal Khawaja for just 9 runs. Their star player Atif Ahmed was back in action contributing a much needed knock of 31 runs but the team were outdone by a fantastic display of bowling by the ICT unit. After managing to recover at 51 for 2, Ahmed Moten starred with the ball, picking up 4 key wickets in no time including 2 ducks to leave Extras reeling at 79 for 7 in 14 overs. The batting side were in danger of not being able to complete their quota of overs. 2 run outs and the Talha Ahmedani's wicket of Hamza Siraj had Extras all out for 112 runs in 16.3 overs.
In response, what should have been a comfortable chase was riddled by hiccups from the ICT line up. The chasing side were 4 for 2 in 0.5 overs and it looked like we were in for a surprise. The team however stabilized soon after and despite dismissing Ibaad Khan for duck, were able to recover well. Ali Iqbal and Adeel Khan took the reigns contributing 35 and 42 runs respectively for their side and eventually set up a comfortable victory for ICT. They chased down the target in 11 overs. Hamza Siraj requires a special mention for his 3 wicket spell that almost gave Extras a fighting chance to defend their team's target.
ICT won by 5 wickets.
