PAF KIET University Vs Sir Syed University
IBA Sports Olympiad- Final
Sir Syed University batted first and were off to a shaky start as they lost 2 quick wickets at the top. Ashir and Rao Waqar then got together and scored some crucial runs. Ashir scored 32 off just 22 balls whereas Rao Waqar scored 29 off 33 balls. They gave a good platform to the lower middle order to come and dictate terms and that’s what Muzammil and Ali Hashmi did. Muzammil scored 39 off just 29 balls with 3 fours whereas Ali Hashmi scored 56 off just 26 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. It was a dream effort from them and it helped Sir Syed post a big first innings score of 180 for 5 in 20 overs. PAF bowlers were in effective against the opposition, unable to strike at key times or stop the flow of runs.
In response, the run chase was never really in control of PAF Kiet University. Sir Syed University held the momentum from the start and PAF Kiet panicked under pressure. When chasing a big score like this, ideally, they wanted someone to play a key innings but the highest scorer for them was Huzaifa Siraj who scored 28 off 24 balls. Rao Waqar was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 3 for just 17 and played a vital role in his teams win. The rest of the bowlers chipped in to restrict the opposition. A late surge of 16 by Hammad was in vain as there was no hope left for PAF Kiet. In the end, Sir Syed won comfortably by 66 runs as they restricted PAF Kiet University to just 114.
Sir Syed University won the IBA Sports Olympiad and took home the cup.
