VMA Overpower Friends XI

A group C encounter of the ongoing 17th Challengers Cup witnessed Friends XI take on VMA in a match played at the Eastern Star Ground.

Friends XI batted first and were put in a tough situation early on, losing their top 3 batsmen in single figures. Nevertheless, the middle order remained confident with Muhammad Asher scoring a run a ball 41 with 5 boundaries. Fellow teammate Qamar ud Duja however, stole the limelight with an electric 65 runs in 49 balls, with 6 fours and 3 huge sixes. The VMA bowlers bowled well with Kamil Mehmood leading the pack with 3 wickets to his name. Friends XI ended their innings at a competitive total of 151 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

VMA, chasing 152 runs, looked confident from the word go, with their openers scoring freely. Kamil Mehmood continued his good form with an exemplary 49 runs in 29 balls, with 7 fours and a six while fellow opener Jahangir Kodvavi contributed with a quick 29 runs in 16 balls, with 4 fours and a six. Number 3 batsman Shayan Rasheed continued the flow of runs, scoring 43 runs in 28 balls with 6 boundaries and a maximum. Abdul Wasay picked up 2 wickets for 31 runs in his 4 overs. VMA cruised to their target in just 16 overs.

VMA won the match by 5 wickets.
