In a Group B fixture of the 17th Challengers Cup, played at the lavish Moin Khan Cricket Academy Ground, the Benitoz Panthers took on the Karachi Patriots with the latter winning comfortably.
Batting first, the Karachi Patriots were off to a confident start with opener Usman Yunus Ghani scoring a well-paced 39 runs in 31 balls. With a solid foundation set up, middle order batsman Faisal Butt contributed a rapid 32 runs in 23 balls to usher the Patriots' to a decent score of 128 runs, for the loss of 8 wickets, in the allotted 20 overs, The Benitoz Panthers were decent with the ball, with Mohib Ahsan and Hasan Mehmood taking 3 wickets each, for 36 and 22 runs respectively.
The Benitoz Panthers began their chase hesitantly, losing their top 3 batsmen for single figures. However, Sumail Aziz led the revival with a solid 43 ball knock of 52 runs to try and bring his team back into the game. Despite this, the Karachi Patriot bowlers were fantastic with Sameer Ahmedani finishing with figures of 4 wickets for 18 runs. Adeel Abbasi also pitched in with 3 wickets for 11 runs. The Benitoz Panthers were all out for 96 runs in 19 overs.
Karachi Patriots won the match by 32 runs.
