Karachi Patriots v Benitoz Panthers- 17th Challengers Cup

Moin Khan Cricket Stadium was the venue for what promised to be an exciting game of cricket between two good teams,Karachi Patriots and defending champions Benitoz Panthers. Winning the toss, Ahmed Arshad, captain of Benitoz Panthers invited Patriots to bat first. Usman Yunus Ghani was in his element as he hit 39 runs off 21 deliveries at a strike rate of 185% while the pitch started turning a lot and became difficult to bat on and the subsequent batsmen struggled to connect their shots and score big. Notable contributors were Faisal Butt with 32 runs and captain Tayyab R Balagamwala with 19 runs as Patriots ended at a low score of 128 for 8 in 20 overs. For Panthers, Mohib and Hassan managed 3 wickets each while Hamza also got a wicket.

In reply, Patriots put up a good fight and never gave up as Panthers batsmen struggled from the start on a difficult pitch and eventually only Sumail Katchi got 52 runs while none of the other batsmen could even reach double figures as patriots bowled and fielded very well. Panthers were all out for just 96 runs as  Sameer Ahmedani ripped through their batting line up with 4 wickets for just 18 runs along with Adeel abbasi who picked up 3 wickets while Richie and Rizwan merchant got a wicket each .

Karachi Patriots won by 32 runs.
