Engro batted first against Allied Engineering this past Saturday at Aga Khan Gymkhana. Openers Zaib and Asim got their team off to a decent start scoring 21 and 11 respectively. It was however one down Jibran then kicked things up a notch with his impressive 55 off 42 including 4 boundaries. Fahad Khawaja provided support with his knock of 22 runs. The team kept losing wickets regularly but the scoreboard was ticking throughout the innings. Shamim and Sameer were the last notable players for their side with 16 and 18 run cameos. Allied's bowlers S.M.Kashif and Muhammad Asif did well to pick wickets in their spells with 2 scalps each. Abid, Salman, Rehan and Adil also took a wicket each. Engro ended at 175 in their 20 overs.
In response Allied Engineering lost opener Muhammad Sumair early on for 5 but his partner Abid fought back! 62 off 41 including 3 sixes, giving the chasing side the hope they needed. Rehan also scored 20 before Adil's smashing innings of 52 at a strike rate of 185 but Engro's bowlers did well to pull it back at the last minute. Asad took 2 wickets each while Usman, Shamim and Sameer picked up a wicket. Despite a valiant effort by Allied Engineering, they were limited to 158 for 5 in 20 overs.
Engro won by 17 runs.
