Edge XI secure a close victory against the Karachi Fighters at the Asghar Ali Shah Ground on Sunday.
Edge XI batted the first innings and in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets, succeeded in putting 150 runs on the scoreboard with most of the runs coming from the top order; Amir (24 from 21), Raheel (22 from 17) and Babar Zafar (33 from 30) and Usman Butt in the lower middle order who made 25 runs from 22 balls. The Karachi Fighters bowled consistently but they conceded 20 extra runs. Noman Suriya and Humair Awan took two wickets each while the rest of the bowlers each took one.
The Karachi Fighters produced some well-placed knocks (opener Umer Razzaq made 34 from 27 and No.4 Raheel Abbas made 44 from 46) but were ultimately unable to meet the required total. The team was all out in 19.4 overs after making 137 runs. Edge XI bowled rather well with Faisal Mughal and Usman Butt taking three wickets each, Bilal Ameer taking two and Imran and Muhammad Kamran taking one wicket each.
Even though the margin of victory was not that large, Edge XI were clearly the better team in this bout
