Direwolves went head-to-head on February 27th against Maverick Stars, emerging as the favorites of the clash.
The opening partnership between Salaar Rizwan and Haseeb Ahmed, proved to be the dynamic start needed by Direwolves. Both the batsmen contributed a total of 83 runs to the score. After the fall of wicket of this opening pair, Mumammad Ahmed successfully restored the momentum in the middle, until Bahzad Anwar caught him out on 31 . Though Farhan Piperdi had bowling figures of 3-27, the Stars bowling attack was unable to restrict the Direwolves batsmen. As a result, they posted a total of 214-7 in 20 overs.
Farhan Shah, the opening batsman of Stars, gave them the perfect opening that they needed. He scored a half-century and was the highest scorer of the match; however, Muhammad Huzaifa caught him off-guard at 52. Stars was then unable to gain the lost momentum. Especially, with the likes of Faraz Nafees and Ali Aamir emerging with bowling figures of 3-18 and 3-19 respectively, their team fell short of 82 runs.
Much to Stars’ dismay, Direwolves arose as the winning team, securing a massive 82-run victory.
