Midas Safety defeated Meezan Bank Green in a match in the 33rd Challengers Corporate Cup.
Batting first, Meezan Bank lost an early wicket but their other opener Sultan Mansori scored 26 off 33 balls to offer some stability to his team. The middle order batsmen were unable to post many runs on the board, except Shahmeer Khan and Mirza Ahmed Baig who scored 14 runs each. Rashid Faraz’s 22 runs and Muhammad Shahrukh’s 18 runs brought the team to 130 runs. Khawar Ilyas bagged 3 wickets while Arsalan Abdul Majeed took 2 wickets.
Midas Safety lost their openers for scores of 11 and 4 respectively. However, Ahmer Iqbal played an important knock of 29 off 24 balls. He was supported by Akram Khan, who smashed a quickfire 46 off 33 balls and remained not out. Muhammad Nadeem’s 16 runs at the bottom of the order helped the team successfully chase down the target. The bowlers were unable to take wickets at crucial times and therefore were weak in the face of the batsmen.
Midas Safety won the match by 5 wickets.
