BY FATIMA SAJID: KHELOKRICKET CORRESPONDENT

The 23rd Super Challengers Cup witnessed a close contest between Dolphins CC and AbuBakar Associates as the latter pulled off a tricky chase.

Dolphins CC opened the first innings with batsmen Fauz ul Hasan and Ali Shah. Although Shah was sent back after facing just 8 deliveries, his partner played a fine knock of 48 from 39 balls. Contributions from the middle order kept the pace of the innings relatively stable around the 8 runs per over mark. The Associates’ bowlers also kept the rate in check with 5 wickets to their name, allowing Dolphins CC to post just 156 runs on the board.

AbuBakar Associates’ batsmen initially responded strongly in the second innings as Muhammad Faizan scored a blazing half century at No.3. With 3 fours and 3 sixes, he top-scored with a total of 63 runs from 40 balls. The middle order offered adequate support with Khurram and Huzaifa leaving the remaining batsmen only a few runs to chase down the target. Towards the end, Fauz ul Hasan and Ali Shah were able to derail the opposition temporarily, picking 2 wickets each. Ultimately, the lower middle order managed to stagger its way to the target with 2 balls remaining in the innings.

AbuBakar Associates won the match by 3 wickets.
