OGS v Super Daddy CC
Super Daddy CC played OGS in a 22 over friendly encounter on Saturday 20th May at the SKBZ ground. It was a sunny and windy day, pleasant playing conditions for this time of the year. OGS won the toss and elected to bat on a flat surface.
The OGS opening pair of Imran Shah and in-form Jamil Akbar got off to a flying start with an opening partnership of 56 runs. Jamil hit a rapid fire 30 off just 23 balls with a flat six and 3 cracking fours before getting bowled to the young 17 year old Super Daddy spinner Saad Khalid. Next in for OGS was Mohammad, who played a responsible innings by rotating the strike, taking his team to 118 before getting stumped off Rehan Shaikh. OGS batsman Imran Shah hit a fantastic knock of 68 runs off only 48 balls dominating the Daddy bowlers with 5 fours and 2 sixes, before also getting out to Rehan Shaikh. Veteran OGS player and skipper of the Unfit Legends Khawaja Obaid looked in good touch with Imran and were poised to post a huge score. However, the Super Daddies fought back with some excellent line and length bowling, especially by Ali Amin who took a spectacular 5-wicket haul to restrict OGS to 158 runs. Rehan Shaikh claimed the prized wickets of Imran and Mohammad, and young Saad Khalid chipped in with a wicket.
With Super Daddy CC requiring 7.22 runs an over, Daddy legends Rehan Shaikh and Shehryar Qadir opened the batting. After a promising start, Shehryar got run out early in the innings while responding to a quick single. Soon after Rehan Shaikh got out to a top edge, at which point the Daddies had scored 44 off 5 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Enter Veteran Super Daddy war horse Adeel Mansha and Naeem Siddiqui who stabilized the Daddy innings. Naeem played with an aggressive frame of mind smashing OGS for 39 runs off only 20 balls with 2 fours and 3 massive sixes, one of which landed outside the ground, smashing the window of the shop opposite. OGS fought back well to take a flurry of quick wickets before Yasser Mufti came in to bat with Adeel Mansha. Adeel hit 78 (not out) off just 53 balls with 8 solid fours and a massive six. VC Adeel Mansha, who played his trademark role to perfection secured a comfortable victory for the Daddies, once again anchoring the innings.
Super Daddy CC beat OGS by 5 wickets with 3 overs to spare.
