VMA batted first at their opening match of the 20th Challengers Cup against Alpha CC with opener Jahangir Kodavi falling for just 2 runs. Kamil and Muqarram however helped stabilised their side with sensible knocks of 45 and 30 runs respectively. Alpha's Yousuf Halari was in form and on fire, ripping through the line up, taking 3 wickets. The rest of the bowling unit chipped in, picking up a wicket each to stop the flow of runs. There was a quick flurry of wickets lower down the order as VMA were dismissed for 131 in 18.3 overs.
In response, Alpha CC began in similar fashion, have their top order dismissed in single digits. Opener Inam Agha tried to keep his wicket intact with 24 runs but it was number 6 and 7, Arsal Ali and Waseem Siddiqui's match winning partnership that took their side to victory. The duo scored 41 and 37 runs respectively and chased down the target in 16 overs. Kamil Mehmood and Muqarram Khan took 2 wickets each but in vain.
Alpha CC won by 5 wickets.
