An important match of the 17th Challengers Cup was played between American Doors and Karachi Cavaliers at Eastern Star Cricket Ground. American Doors batted first and opener Ali Mehar was in sublime form as he hit the ball to all parts of the park and scored 71 runs off 43 deliveries at a strike rate of 165% and his innings included 10 boundaries and 2 sixes. Shakir Serang contributed 25 runs while Saad Gutta and Idrees Amin contributed 16 runs each to get their team to a competitive total of 159 for the loss of 4 wickets. For Karachi Cavaliers, Obaid Ghazi took 2 wickets and Mubeen got a wicket while there was 1 run out.
In reply, Cavaliers lost Muhammad Sadiq after he had scored just 7 runs but Haris Piyara with 47 runs and Shoaib with 28 runs started the counter attack but once they were out, none of the other batsmen could capitalize on the good foundation laid by these two batsmen and lost their wickets cheaply to some good bowling by American Doors bowlers. Karachi Cavaliers could only get to a total of 110 runs as Salman Asif, Bilal Omer and Khalid Kaka got 2 wickets each to take their team home to a comfortable victory.
