A very exciting encounter of the 21st Challengers Cup took place between Karachi Avengers and Alpha cc. Avengers batted first at Asifabad ground and Ajdal Aziz was out without scoring. Waqas Wakeel though was in fine form as he hit 81 off just 50 balls and he was assisted by Farhad Khalid who got 68 runs off 51 balls. Adnan Akhtar also contributed 21 runs as Avengers ended at 174 for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. For Alpha cc, Jawad and Umer got wickets while there was 1 run out in the innings.
In reply, Alpha cc put up a great fight and never gave up. They started off well with openers Faizan getting 54 runs and Syed Inam scoring 51 runs. Then 3 quick wickets fell as Avengers fought back and got rid of Yousuf for 16, Daniyal for 3 and Adeel for a duck. At the far end, Arsal Ali fought back with 29 off 16 and brought his team close but in the end they fell short by just 1 run as Alpha cc ended at 173 for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. For Avengers, Waqas took 2 wickets while Nadeem, Abdullah and Talha picked up a wicket each. It was a very exciting encounter and nail biting contest and the game swung both ways with Avengers coming out as the eventual victors.
Avengers won by 1 run.
