It promised to be an exciting match when the team captains squared up against each other and on that it delivered. The opening match of the 23rd Challengers Cup was won by the Challenger Blues, in dominating fashion by 45 runs.
The Challenger Blues batted first and by keeping the scoreboard ticking they racked up 156 in 20 overs. Madni Bawany made 19 from 14, Syed Umair Rizvi made 14 from 15, Bilal Omer smashed 35 from 25 and Kamran Salam made 19 from 12. Waqas Wakeel was on fire as he took four wickets while Saad Sultan took three, Abbas Raza and Afsar Saleem took one.
The Whites were all out in 16.3 after making just 111. Saad Shah made 22 from 17 while Muzammil Mehboob made 15 from 14. The Whites were outmatched. Sumair Ali and Bilal Omer were destructive with three wickets each while Faizan Azam took two and Arsalan Iqbal and Madni Waqas Raja took one.
