The final day of the TUC & Khelo Kricket Men's Tapeball Night Tournament was filled with action-packed moments and matches.
The final three matches were played amongst Khushnood, OGS-EGC, Karachi Boat Club and Gully Boys with OGS-EGC taking home the cup!
Semi Final#1
The first semi-final took place between Khusnood XI and Karachi Boat Club (KBC) with the former batting first. Jaffar and Rameez Mehboob took on the bowling attack with a blistering 38 and 18 runs respectively to post a competitive total of 81 runs in 8 overs. KBC captain Abdullah Farrukh tried to pull back the scoring with his 2 wickets.
In response, Shamas and Usman got their team off to a flying start with 13 and 32 runs in a match that turned out to be a real nail biter. The team however faltered in the middle with a few wickets before Abdul Rehman's unbelievable 19 off 6 threatened to take KBC through to the final. They eventually fell just 2 runs short with Khushnood XI clinching victory by just 2 runs.
Semi Final#2
In contrast, the second semi final was a complete one sided affair. Gully Boys batted first and lost too many wickets to keep the scoring rate up. The eventually ended at a low 50 for 6 in 8 overs. OGS-EGC bowlers were relentless with Shehzad Meher and Faraz Ahmed picking up 2 wickets each.
In response, OGS made quick work of the total with Usman Ghani and Adeel Abbasi knocking 35 and 13 runs respectively to chase down the target in just 4 runs. They won comprehensively by 10 wickets and were through to the final.
Final
Khushnood XI batted first against OGS-EGC in a hard fought final with both sides giving it their all. The pressure however proved to be too much for Khushnood with 3 run outs and wickets consistently falling throughout the innings. Waseem took 2 wickets while the rest of the unit chipped in to restrict Khushnood XI to 75 for 8 in 8 overs. Iqbal and Rameez Mehboob were the most notable batsmen for their side with 23 and 13 runs respectively.
In response, Muhammad Muavia was having the game of his life! After already taking 2 catches and assisting a run out in the previous innings, the star player also scored 39 and remained not out to help OGS-EGC to a comfortable victory. Khushnood bowlers were unable to make inroads and pick wickets consistently. OGS-EGC chased down the target in 7 overs and won the TUC presents KheloKricket Tape Ball Men's Tournament!
