Karachi Patriots faced Defenders at Hillpark cricket ground as part of the 7th Residence cup match. Playing with 9 players, Patriots batted first and Faisal Butt was in prime form as he hit 51 runs off 30 deliveries at a strike rate of 170%. Rizwan Merchant and Haris Altaf contributed with 11 runs each but it was Aamir Motiwala who displayed finesse in his batting and hit an exquisite 59 runs off 35 deliveries at a strike rate of 169%. Patriots ended at a competitive 170 for the loss of 7 wickets at end of 20 overs. For Defenders, Ghulam and Amir got 2 wickets each while Sumair, Faraz and Ali took a wicket each.
For Defenders, Agha Chao got them off to a fantastic start with an aggressive 34 runs off 18 deliveries and Abdur Rafay followed it up with 43 runs off 36 deliveries. Not to be outdone, Sami made 30 off 23 before Yousuf ensured that the run rate never fell as he hit 43 runs off 20 deliveries at a mammoth strike rate of 215% and his team raced home with 19 balls left and 6 wickets in hand. For Patriots, Rizwan Merchant got 2 wickets while Richie and Faraz took a wicket each.
