Eagles CC and Hawks faced each other in the all important final of the 8th Residence Cup at SKBZ. Batting first the Hawks top order collapsed cheaply with opener Rameez and one down Ali Mansoor both dismissed for just 1 run. The team struggled against a formidable Eagles line up who ripped through the opposition with the exception of Idrees Durrani. The star Hawks player was the only batsman to show intent in a fighting knock of 62 which saved his side from a complete implosion. Raja Saqlain also chipped in lower down the order with a cameo of 24 as Hawks CC managed to scrape 132 for 7 in 20 overs. Eagles bowlers were sharp with the ball with Rehan, Wajji and Faizan picking up 2 wickets each.
With a low total to chase, Eagles CC came out confident. Both openers Rehan Nazim and Jahangir Khan got their team off to a flying start, scoring 30 and 40 not out respectively. Even after Rehan was dismissed and one down Zubair lost his wicket for 9, nothing could stop the chasing side as Madni Waqas Raja blistering 40 off 18 sealed a comprehensive victory in just 13 overs. Hawks bowlers were at a loss, the pressure of the final had got to them.
Eagles CC won by 8 wickets.
