Extras faced Naakians this past Saturday. Batting first, Extras star player Atif Ahmed was in form and on fire with his knock of 59 runs. His partner Hamza Kheshgi also lead the side with an impressive 57 before one down Bilal Hayat kept the momentum going with 37 runs. The team lost a few wickets but with a mammoth foundation set, there was nothing Naakians bowlers could do to stop the flow of runs. Zubair was the key wicket taker for their side with 3 wickets while Zakir and Furqan picked up a wicket each. Extras ended at 181 for 6 in 20 overs.
In response Naakians put up a good fight. After losing opener Moiz for 2, his partner Faizan teamed up with Usman Mian to turn the momentum in their favour. Faizan's blistering 51 came at a strike rate of 164 and included 10 boundaries. Usman's 83 came off 44 including 8 boundaries and 5 sixes. Extras bowlers simply could not break the strong hold initially but Raza Zaidi and Rangeen Khan finally took their wickets. Raza was key for Extras with 3 wickets in his spell while Asad, Rangeen and Shoaib took a wicket each. Faisal Sarkar also chipped in with 20 runs for Naakians but none of the subsequent batsmen were able to capitalize on a dream start. Naakians were restricted to 172 for 7 in 20 overs.
Extras won by 9 runs.
