Wintex Strikers simply could not match up to the formidable total of 187 set by Suleman Classic Shaheen, at Annu Bhai Park this past Wednesday.
Suleman Classic Shaheen batted first and were off to a sensational start with openers Afnan Karim and Hamza Jameel scoring 22 runs from 19 balls and 40 runs from 30 balls respectively. This was followed by 18 from 18 from Abdullah Tahir and then a magnificent 50 from 30 by Usman Hafeez (not out) who accompanied M.Ovais (32 from 20) at the crease till the end of the innings. Wintex bowlers were ineffective against the opposition, unable to pick wickets when required and giving away too many runs.
In contrast, Wintex got off to an even better start with both openers scoring 40 plus runs followed by a 54 from 33 by Anas Ahmed who remained not out. However, this is where their momentum halted and despite 3 wickets remaining, the rest of the batting order could not stand par and failed to achieve the required total.
The bowling attacks on either side were fairly consistent and presented similar figures, so in the end it came down to the batting which made all the difference in this match. Suleman Classic Shaheen won by 15 runs.
