Karachi Hawks Thrash Karachi Falcons

KARACHI FALCONS VS KARACHI HAWKS

6TH RESIDENCE CUP

Karachi Falcons and Karachi Hawks challenged each other in the inaugural match of the 6th Residence Cup at SKBZ cricket ground. Karachi Hawks batted first and were off to a slow start as the top order found it difficult to score runs. After the loss of the first wicket some remedial work was done by Faraz Kazi and Fahad Iqbal. Faraz scored 19 off 16 while Fahad managed to score 11 off 10 deliveries. But the best was yet to come as the lower middle displayed great character and fortitude. Zain Ul Abeden and his namesake Zain played good attacking shots and created troubles for the bowlers. Zain Ul Abeden scored 41 off 30 balls while Zain scored 33 runs off just 20 deliveries. A similar effort was shown by Abdul Rehman who scored 36 quick runs off just 17 balls. 2 wickets were grabbed by Murtaza while a wicket each was taken by Sumair, Hassan, Rishi and Vicky. At the end of 20 overs, Karachi Hawks had posted 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Karachi Falcons started their innings with high hopes to chase the target and win the curtain raiser. But the superb bowling display by Asad Khan and company, made things incredibly difficult for the Falcons’ batting lineup. Shezad, Suleman Khan, Sumair and Amir Dungrani were the only batsmen who made it to the double figures, as the rest of the batting lot failed to impress.  The pressure of scoring at around 8 runs per over got the better of the Karachi Falcons batting lineup, as they collapsed in front of a fine bowling attack. Asad Khan led his bowling attack and took 4 wickets for 18 runs. He was assisted well by his fellow bowlers as Asif Afridi took 2 wickets, while a wicket a piece was taken by Abdul Rehman, Jamal, Idrees Durrani and Faraz Kazi.  It was the 20th over in which Karachi Falcons lost their last wicket and were put out of their misery. Karachi Hawks won the match by 51 runs.
