Karachi University Qualify

Group D's matches kicked off with Karachi University (Urdu Department) securing the final spot in the semi finals of the Master Oil t10 Inter University tournament.

Match#1

Fast University batted first against Karachi University and were dominated by the opposition. After losing opener Saad Patti for duck, the team continued to lose wickets regularly with only Afnan Anwar knocking 25 runs for his side. KU bowlers did well to keep things tight with Muhammad Hammad and Hassan Sohail taking 2 wickets each. Fast University ended at 96 for 8 in 10 overs.

In response, Openers Farooq and Hassan made easy work of the chasing, smashing 38 and 37 respectively to cruise to victory in 8 overs. Fast bowlers had no chance, unable to break the partnership. Hamza Khan picked up a wicket in vain.

Match#2

Dadabhoy Institute batted first against Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) and dominated in the 1st innings. Openers Asim Ali Shah and Khizar Masood were in prime form with knocks of 44 and 56 to take Dadabhoy to a mammoth 106 for 1 in 10 overs. JSMU bowlers were unable to stop the onslaught with only Afaq Elahi able to pick up a wicket in vain.

In response, JSMU were never really in the game with their batsmen crumbling under pressure. Ayaz and Mirza scored 15 runs each for their side but couldn't capitalize any further. Dadabhoy bowlers picked wickets throughout the innings, not giving anything away. JSMU ended at 74 for 5 in 10 overs. Fahad Gohar took 2 wickets.

Match#3

Karachi University (Urdu Department) batted first against JSMU with openers Farooq and Hassan once again taking charge. Farooq knocked 26 runs but Hassan was the real star of the show. His half century came off just 35 balls, including 6 boundaries. Karachi University posted a target of 98 runs in 10 overs.

In response, JSMU had no fight in the chase, losing their top order cheaply and continuing to throw away their wickets. Ayaz Khan was the only player who tried to keep his side's chances alive with a cameo of 21 runs. Farooq was the key wicket taker for KU with 2 scalps as JSMU ended at a low 54 for 5 in 10 overs.

Match#4

Fast University batted first against Dadabhoy Institute with Afnan Anwar taking charge. The opener knocked 41 off just 23 balls to set the foundation for a mammoth total for his side. Hannan's 21 kept things going on the other end Saad Faisal also contributing a blistering 34 off 19 as Fast University ended at 119 for 3 in 10 overs. Dadabhoy bowlers were simply ineffective.

In response, Dadabhoy imploded in the chase. With the exception of lone fighter Ehtasham's valiant 59 run innings, the rest of the side fell apart. A couple of run outs and a formidable display of bowling by Fast University had the chasing side in shambles. Hammad Masood took 2 wickets as Dadabhoy ended at 99 for 7 in 10 overs.

Match#5

Fast University batted first against Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) with Afnan Anwar once again turning up for his side. Afnan scored 34 off 22 balls supported by Ali Ahmed's 23 run cameo. Saad Faisal kept the scoreboard ticking with an impressive 44 off 13 including 6 boundaries and 2 sixes as Fast University posted an unbelievable target of 121 runs in 10 overs. JSMU bowlers have been weak throughout the tournament and once again couldn't break the opposition's momentum.

In response, JSMU lost both openers for duck which sparked a complete collapse. Ayaz was once again the star player for his side with a fiery 46 but none of the other batsmen made any attempt to chase down the target. The side lost 7 of the subsequent batsmen in single digits as Fast bowlers closed in on the victory. 3 run outs and a wicket each by the bowling unit restricted JSMU to 85 for 8 in 10 overs.

Match#6

The final match of Group D was a thriller with both Karachi University (Urdu Department) and Dadabhoy Institute fighting for the top spot. Dadabhoy needed a victory by a big margin to edge into the semi finals. Batting first, Dadabhoy lost their openers cheaply but did well to recover after that. Ehtasham's 25 and Umair Warsi's 37 pulled their team back in the game with Hashim Maseed also knocked 13 runs. KU bowlers started off strong and while the side picked up wickets they were unable to stop the flow of runs. Dadabhoy ended at a competitive 94 for 4 in 10 overs.

In response, KU lost opener Farooq for just 6 runs but seemed well on their way to victory after that. Salman Zaki knocked 18 off 15 along with Hassan Sohail's blistering 35 and Aziz Sadiq's 27. The chasing side came close but eventually fell short by just 5 runs with Dadabhoy bowlers fighting hard to pull back the opposition. 

Dadabhoy Institute won by 5 runs but it was Karachi University (Urdu Department) that qualified for the semi finals (on run rate). Full Scorecard
