KPL Day 1

KPL Day 1- Tape ball tournament held at Kokan Ground on 25th March 2017.

Himalya v Continental

Himalya batted first and what a start they had. Star opener Noman shined with the bat with a fiery knock of 40 runs to set his team up well. Despite losing his partner Daniyal for just 8 runs, nothing seemed to faze the batting side. Saif also stepped in to an explosive knock of 23 runs. Continental bowlers were unable to contain the opposition or pick wickets when required with only Shabbir and Jameel picking up a wicket each. Himalya set a target of 84 runs in 6 overs.

In response, Continental were off to a disastrous start after losing both their openers for just 1 run. Khurram was the lone fighter for his side with a knock of 32 runs but received no support on the other end. Himalya bowlers were in-form and on fire with Daniyal and Noman picking up 2 wickets each. Continental were limited to 56 runs in 6 overs.

Himalya won by  28 runs.

Man of the Match: Noman- 40 runs and 2 wickets- Himalya

Printech v Himalya

What a dismal display of batting by Printech. Himalya bowlers were ruthless against the opposition not giving the opposition any room to score. None of the Printech batsmen were able to convert their innings to double digits. Noman and Daniyal lead the attack, ripping apart the batting line up, taking a combined 5 wickets. Printech were limited to 40 runs in 6 overs.

With a very manageable total to chase, Himalya batsman Jamal top scored with 12 runs for his side to seal a comfortable victory. Only Printech bowler Ebad was able to take 1 wicket. The total was chased down in 3.2 overs. 

Himalya won by 9 wickets.

Man of the match: Noman – 3 wickets (Himalya)

Printech v Continental

Printech batted first with opener Zain retiring for just 9 runs. His partner Jameel however teamed up with Sohail to contribute valuable runs with cameos of 23 and 28 runs respectively. Continental bowlers were only able to take 1 wicket and were not able to stop the flow of runs. Printech set a target of 76 runs in 6 overs.

Continental's batting line up put on an all round strong performance in their chase and despite losing wickets in intervals, kept the scoreboard ticking effectively. Ishaq and Rizwan were the most notable contributors for their side with knocks of 26 and 20 runs respectively. Jameel also scored 13 runs. A couple of run outs and a wicket each by Sajjad and Saeed did put the chasing side under pressure but they were eventually able to get over the the line.

Continental won by 6 wickets.

Man of the Match: Ishaq- 26 runs (Continental).

Toyo v Continental

Toyo batted first with their openers putting up a good fight. They scored 16 and 14 runs respectively to set the foundation for their side. The team however were unable to capitalize on the start as they were outdone by a fantastic display of bowling by Continental. Khurrum was the pick of the bowlers with 3 extraordinary wickets in his spell, closely followed by Imran who took 2 wickets. 2 crucial run outs further damaged the batting side. Toyo set a target of 63 runs in 6 overs.

In response Continental lost both their openers for just 4 runs but Jamil took over to lead his side to recovery. His fiery knock of 45 runs off just 15 balls singlehandedly guided his team to victory. Toyo bowlers were unable to break his momentum and contain the onslaught. Rizwan, Kamran and Karim picked up a wicket each but Continental chased down the target successfully.

Continental won by 7 wickets.

Man of the Match: Jamil- 45* runs and 1 wicket.

Himalya v Toyo

Himalya batted first with their top order shining with the bat. Noman, Daniyal and Faraz scored 10, 16 and 12 runs before Rizwan dismantled the partnership. He picked up 2 wickets but the team fell victim to 3 run outs which rattled their momentum. Saif contributed valuable runs with the bat, scoring 24 runs. Himalya set an impressive target of 86 in 6 overs.

In response, Toyo stumbled in their chase, losing batsmen too frequently. Kamran was the top scorer for his side with 20 runs, followed by Aamir's 12 run cameo. With 2 run outs and 1 wicket, Himalya bowlers did well to contain the opposition. Toyo were limited to 55 runs in 6 overs.

Himalya won by 31 runs.

Man of the Match: Saif- 24 runs and 1 wicket.
