Southend Cubs batted first against Team Versatile and with Maeez Waqar playing the game of his life. The opener contributed a sublime century off 51 balls and was eventually retired hurt. With Maeez holding the innings on one end, Asfand Younus and Mazhar Hussain also chipped in with 38 and 21 runs respectively. Versatile did make some inroads towards the later stage of the innings, picking up wickets to try and minimize the damage that had been done. Southend Cubs ended at a devastating total of 227 for 5 in 20 overs.
In response, Versatile lost their openers cheaply and could do little to recover after that. There were some cameos in the middle with Faizan's 26, Maqsood's valuable 40 and Arshad's 32 but none of the batsmen were able to build a partnership and capitalize on a decent start. Wickets continued to fall in regular intervals with Cubs bowlers keeping the pressure on. Khalil Sheikh picked up 2 wickets with the rest of the unit chipping in with a wicket each. Versatile eventually ended at 153 for 8 in 20 overs.
Southend Cubs won by 74 runs.
