Karachi Patriots came up against Day Fresh in a Fit in 5 T20 Night Tournament game at the Moin Khan Cricket Academy.
Patriots batted first and set off to a steady start as Tayyab(30) quickly got acquainted with the conditions and got the ball rolling. This set the base for Faisal Butt(16) and Aamir Motiwala(19) to toughen the score. Adeel Abbasi also propelled the Patriots forward and managed 23. The highlight of the innings however, was the electric batting spree of Faraz Ahmed who secured 46 off 15 balls. At a strike rate of 306 he took the team well past 150. The Patriots received their final benefacation from Merchant who scored a quick 17. Day Fresh bowlers bowled with heart and Umer(1), Aftab(2), Nadeem(1), and Ejaz(3) put up a tough fight against the Patriots and impeded their steady pace. Patriots ended the innings with 166 runs on the board with 3 wickets still in hand.
In the second innings, Day Fresh tried to meet this challenge as opener Azhar played prudently but was bowled for 29. The tone was set quite off note as the following two batsmen Fayyaz(8) and Aftab(2) retired cheaply. Daniyal made a spirited attempt at redeeming the match as he accumulated 32 runs and was ably supported by Bilal who made 27, but unfortunately the remaining batsmen could not withstand the pressure whirpool created by the Patriots. The Patriots bowlers proved to be competent aand outwitted the Day Fresh bating line up. Abbasi and Hanif knocked down three wickets each while Merchant picked up 2 and Sameer also picked up a scalp. Day Fresh eventually reeled to 124 losing all their wickets and in the process handed a resounding victory to the Patriots who won by 49 runs.
