Mavericks batted first against Kings XI at the Golden Big Bash Cup in an evenly matched contest. Openers Shahrukh and Adnan knocked cameos of 20 and 16 respectively but after the duo were dismissed, things seemed to fall apart. Kings bowlers kept things tight, picking wickets consistently with only Azhar Abbasi's 29 showing any signs of resistance. Owais Arif was the key wicket taker for his side with 3 scalps while the rest of the unit did well to chip in as Mavericks were restricted to a low 134 for 9 in 20 overs.
In response, Kings XI were weak against the opposition, crumbling in the chase. Owais Arif once again turned up for his side with a fighting 45 with Raheel chipping wirh 26. The team seemed well on their way to chase down the target at one point but a collapsed later in the innings with 5 of the subsequent batsmen being dismissed in single digits. Kings XI were dismissed for 128 in 19.5 overs. Mavericks bowlers did well to keep the pressure on, consistently picking wickets Shahrukh, Faizan and Usama in particular taking 2 wickets each.
