Mavericks beat Edge XI by three wickets at the Annu Bhai Park this past Sunday.
Edge XI batted first and seemed to be doing well and on their way to victory as opener Umer Tariq made 20 runs from 18 balls and No.4 and No.5 batsmen Raheel and Faisal Mehmood made 47 from 28 and 47 from 32 respectively. Unfortunately, that was the end of their momentum as the rest of the batting order fell after scoring very few runs. With added 19 extra runs, Edge XI made 165 in 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Adnan Khan Niazi from the Mavericks took an impressive three wickets while Muhammad Shahrukh and Ikram Khan took two wickets. Sami Ur Rehman took one.
The Mavericks were off to a blazing start, in contrast to their opponents. Opener Irfan Shah made 71 runs from 52 deliveries while No.9 batsman Muhammad Khuzaima made a very impressive 46 from just 18 deliveries to help push the team to 166 in 19.1 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Bilal Ameer and Abbas Ali took two wickets each while Babar Zafar and Faisal Mehmood took one each.
