Benitoz Panthers batted first against Muslim Gymkhana in an all awaited final match of Al-Wakeel Cricket League. Panthers lost their first opener Tabish Raza for duck. Ahmed Arshad and Hasan Mehmood then added some more runs on the scoreboard but got dismissed soon. The batting team quickly lost some more wickets after that but Saad Ahmed and Mohib Ahsan from the middle order halted the series of falling wickets. They stood almost till the end of the innings and brilliantly played to set a good score for their team. Saad scored 46 off 26 and remained unbeaten while Mohib made 37 off 25. Panthers managed to set a score of 162 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Muslim Gymkhana bowlers were overall good with their job except for few bowlers who leaked runs. Saad Dawood was tremendous with the ball picking up 4 wickets. Mustafa Fattani also bagged 2 wickets.
Muslim Gymkhana’s batting looked solid from the beginning and their batting line-up did not fumble for even once though the target was not that easy. Opener Bilal Omer scored 40 runs providing a dazzling start to his team. Fahad Farooq further propelled his side towards victory through his 38 runs. Mirza Shoaib’s wondrous unbeatable 56 runs off 39 deliveries proved to be the final nail in the Panthers’ coffin. The bowlers of Benitoz Panthers were not impressive and they failed to contain opposition though they had a good target to defend. Mohib Ahsan was the leading wicket taker from Panthers bagging 2 wickets. Muslim Gymkhana chased the target on 4 wickets with an over to spare.
Muslim Gymkhana won by 6 wickets and were crowned champions.
