NED University Qualify For the Semi Finals

After Thursdays matches were rained out, Group C commenced play on Friday at the Master Oil t10 Inter University Tournament.  There was much controversy in this Group as teams tried to sneak in players which had played Grade 2 cricket. Eventually Hamdard University were disqualified.

Match#1

Hamdard University batted first against Iqra University with openers Shoaib and Aaqib posting runs on the board. Shoaib contributed 11 while Aaqib scored 15 runs. Bahadur Ali (the player who was later disqualified) was the star player for his side with a blistering 21 off 16 to keep the scoreboard ticking. The team then lost a flurry of quick wickets as Iqra University bowlers did well to pick up wickets and pull back the opposition. A late burst of 16 off 9 by Salman Khan further boosted Hamdard to a competitive 93 for 6 in 10 overs. Umer Chawla was the key wicket taker for his side with 2 scalps.

In response, Iqra University were never really in the game with Hamdard bowlers putting on a good show. With the exception of Arsalan Wasim's 17 and Farhad Ali's 23, none of the other players showed any intent with Iqra being restricted to 78 for 7 in 10 overs. Muhammad Farooq and Salman Khan did well to keep the pressure on, picking up 2 wickets each in their spell.
