ZamZam Sports v Titans Cricket Club
What a match this turned out to be at the New Navy Cricket Ground this past Sunday. ZamZam Sports batted first and had an average day out with the bat. After losing their top order relatively cheaply, the team stabilized the innings with cameos in their twenties by Wasif Mahmood, Mahmood Ali and Muhammad Faizan Khan. The momentum was further carried by Shiraz Raza and Amir Shehzad who built an impressive partnership, scoring 36 and 32 runs respectively. Titans bowler Asfar Irfan picked up 2 wickets while Ieman, Usman and Fahad Shah took a wicket each. ZamZam Sports set a target of 179 runs in 20 overs.
Titans CC seemed like they had it in the bag when openers Asfar Irfan an Abdul Rafay got their team off to a flyer! Scoring 53 and 45 runs respectively, things were looking good for the chasing side. Titans were 101 for no loss in 9 overs but things changed from there. After the opening pair were dismissed, the rest of the team were unable to keep the scoreboard ticking, losing wickets too frequently. Usama Zubair was the only other notable contributor, scoring 23 runs. ZamZam bowlers did well to capitalize on the opportunity with Irfan Ullah taking 4 key wickets. Mahmood Ali also took 2 wickets. A collapse was on the horizon with Titans CC being 168 for the loss of 8 wickets in 19 overs. With 12 required off the last over, Titans were limited to 175 runs in 20 overs.
ZamZam Sports won by 4 runs.
