Karachi Patriots v Titans Cricket Club
Karachi Patriots played Titans in a do or die match of the KheloKricket Champions Trophy. It was a crucial game for both teams as the winner would qualify for the semi finals and the loser would be knocked out of the tournament. The match was held at Moin Khan Cricket Academy and Patriots won the toss and decided to field first. Titans were off to a rollicking start as Umair with 40 runs and Usman with 10 runs got them off to a good start in the first 6 overs. However, Sameer Ahmedani then put the brakes on the scoring rate and bowled a beautiful spell whereby he restricted the run flow along with Ghazanfar Richie and also took 2 wickets in the process. Titans batsmen played some irresponsible shots after such a good start and the whole batting line up collapsed to 115 all out as captain Adeel Abbasi and Rehan Hanif ripped through the line up with 4 wickets each. Only Asfar with 14 and Haseeb with 18 put up some resistance in an otherwise dismal show of batting.
In reply, Patriots started off very well as Tayyab R Balagamwala and Faisal butt had a partnership of 98 runs . Tayyab was out after having scored 32 runs off 20 balls but Faisal Butt continued to hit the ball to all corners of the park as he remained unbeaten on 78 runs off just 32 balls at a strike rate of 244% and Patriots raced home in the 10th over for the loss of 2 wickets. Both wickets were taken by Masroor for Titans. Patriots won comprehensively in a critical encounter and have now qualified for the semi finals of the KheloKricket Champions Trophy where they will face Benitoz Panthers.
Karachi Patriots won by 8 wickets.
