Purple Patch For Karachi Patriots

KARACHI PATRIOTS VS KARACHI DEFENDERS

6TH RESIDENCE CUP

Karachi Patriots clashed with Karachi Defenders in this fixture of the 6th Residence Cup. Karachi Patriots batted first and were off to a decent start. Tayyab Balagamwala played a few dots in order to have a better idea of the conditions, but his partner Atif didn’t waste any time and blasted from the first ball he faced. Tayyab managed to score 16 runs off 22 balls while Atif scored a magnificent half century with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Atif was fleetingly supported by the middle order but he kept doing his job and smashed the ball in all the corners of the Hill Park Cricket Ground. Haseeb Amin scored 16 runs off just 7 balls in the concluding phase of the innings, which allowed Karachi Patriots to post a competitive total of 137 runs at the end of 18 overs. Atif remained the top scorer with 51 runs which he made in 27 balls. Faraz and Mudassir Malik got 2 wickets each while Fayyaz, Azmat and Saad got a wicket apiece.

As Karachi Defenders started their chase it looked like they will easily succeed as opening batsmen Chao and Talha started off well. Unfortunately Talha could not bank on to the start he had and lost is wicket at the score of 10. Chao on the other hand kept scoring runs but he too was unable to convert his start into a bigger score. Any hopes of this being a close encounter were washed away by the brilliant bowling of Karachi Patriots. They bowled a tight line and length and gave the batsman no chance to play their strokes freely. Rizwan Merchant, Sameer Ahmedani and Afzal Gigi were unplayable for the batsmen, as they managed to get 2 wickets apiece. One after another Karachi Defenders’ batsmen kept on losing their wickets and it was too late when they realized that the game has slipped away from their hands. Due to this excellent display of bowling, Karachi Patriots won this game by 54 runs as Karachi Defenders were all out for just 83 runs.
