Rising Star F.C v Scorchers CC
Rising F.C batted first and were off to a dream start with both openers contributing valuable runs with the bat. Opener Faizan Khan scored 37, but it was his partner Haris Farooq that stole the show. He smashed an impressive 70 runs off 52 balls which included 8 boundaries. After the duo were dismissed, the foundation had already been set and despite some fumbles, minor contributions from Huzaif, Hamza and Feroz propelled the team to a competitive total of 175 runs in 20 overs. Scorchers bowlers were unable to pick wickets at key times or stop the flow of runs. Some handy work in the field did however lead to 3 run outs that stumped the opposition. Waqas Hanif was key for his side, picking up 2 wickets.
In response Scorchers CC had a horrible day out with the bat. Opener Abdul Haseeb was out for duck on the first ball of the innings. Things did not get any better for the chasing side as they lost wickets in regular intervals, unable to keep the scoreboard ticking. Wasiq, Umair Azam and Waseem were the only batsmen to show some resistance with cameos in their twenties. Rising bowler Bilal Iqbal ripped through the batting side, picking up 4 wickets and helping assist a run out. Feroz Bhatti also picked up 2 wickets. Scorchers CC were helpless against the lethal attack and were eventually bowled out for 127 runs in 17.5 overs.
Rising Star F.C won by 48 runs.
