Rising Stars Vs Karachi Patriots
16th Challengers Cup
Rising Stars batted first and were off to a poor start losing their openers without much contribution from them and quite early in the innings. Adnan Ghazi was the chief destroyer in the initial overs from Karachi Patriots as he picked up 3 wickets including both the openers. The momentum was with the bowling side but not for long as Danish Fattani stepped in and started dictating terms. He played an extra-ordinary innings under the circumstances as he put the bowling side on the backfoot with his fine hitting, he smashed 67 off just 50 balls with 5 fours and a six. The others could not bat for long and were dismissed inside 20. The bowlers did a good job in restricting the opposition and after Adnan’s 3 wickets Adeel and Afzal picked up 2 each and in the end, Rising Stars managed to score 142.
The chase was a modest one but Karachi Patriots made it difficult for themselves as they lost 3 wickets upfront without much on the scoreboard. Aamir Motiwala and Haseeb Amin then formed a much-needed partnership and rescued the sinking ship. Aamir scored 38 off 36 whereas Haseeb scored 33 off 27 balls. After their partnership, Ritchie propelled the score forward and scored 31 off 17 balls. The match entered into tense phase Hamza Mehmood picked up Ritchie’s wicket and then 2 more quick wickets to leave Karachi Patriots in tatters. Taha Mehmood was another one who bowled an inspiring spell and picked up 3 wickets. This combine effort gave Rising Stars a very close win in this low scoring fixture by just 9 runs.
