VMA v Karachi Patriots
Vanthali Memon Association played against Karachi Patriots at RLCA Gulberg cricket ground as part of the 16th Challengers cup. VMA batted first and lost opener Kamil Mehmood(19 runs) and Rehan Hanif(1 run) early. However, Umair Yousuf with 51 runs off 41 deliveries and Muzammil Chaipi with 32 runs off 28 deliveries ensured that their team ended at a respectable 156 for 7 in designated 20 overs. For Patriots, Rizwan Merchant and Afzal Gigi got 2 wickets each while Sameer Ahmedani and Rizwan Diwan got a wicket each.
In reply Patriots started off very well as Faisal Butt and Adnan Salim hit some fantastic strokes and had a good partnership of 53 runs in 6 overs. However, VMA captain Shahid Nepal had other plans and he ploughed through the Patriots batting line up with a devastating spell of 5 wickets for just 22 runs in 4 overs. Naveed Rangoonia with 2 wickets and Imran Idrees and Salman Dossani with a wicket each also ensured that Patriots could only get to 134 for 9 in the designated 20 overs. For Patriots, Faisal Butt got 32 runs, Rizwan Merchant 22 runs and Adnan Salim 21 runs. All in all, a fantastic bowling comeback by VMA to secure a very important victory in the tournament.
VMA won by 22 runs.
