Southend Champions batted first and were off to a great start. Their openers, Farrukh Hanif and Khurram Ashfaq were in sublime touch and they were middling everything they faced. Khurram Ashfaq was in particular the more destructive of the two. Khurram Ashfaq scored 79 off just 51 balls whereas Farrukh Hanif scored 31 off 26 balls. After the efforts from the openers, Irfan Ullah and Ajmal Afzal propelled the score forward and scored 23 and 13 respectively. The innings was ended on a high by Farhan Iftikhar who scored 18 off 6 balls to take the score to 197 in 20 overs.
Southend Panthers in response, were off to a poor start as they lost quick wickets at the top. But after a troubled start, Taimoor and Waris brought some stability back in the innings and scored some crucial runs. Taimoor was looking in tremendous form as he scored 27 off just 12 at a strike rate of 225 but he could not carry his bat for long. On the other hand, Waris scored 18 off 18 to give him good support. After their dismissal, the middle order fired Sameer and Fahad started the rebuilding effort with their partnership and scored 35 and 42 respectively at a quick time. After their dismissal, Ali Gulzar scored 23 off 17 balls. The bowlers bowled well and the pick of the bowler was Faraz Rafiq who picked up 2 wickets for just 14 runs, it was a remarkable effort in this high scoring fixture. Waqar Ahmed also picked up 2 wickets and in the end, Southend Panthers lost by 24 runs.
