Eagles CC v Karachi Stallions (Final)
The final of the 7th Residence Cup took place at SKBZ Cricket ground with a lot of expectations of a close contest but unfortunately it turned out to be a one sided affair with the defending champions, Stallions showing their strength and dominance throughout the match. An unbeaten Eagles Cricket Club team throughout the tournament seemed disheartened as they were skittled out for just 121 runs after Stallions captain, Samad Ghani had won the toss and invited Eagles to bat first. Eagles lost their aggressive opener Rehan Nazim to a run out and Madni and Jaleel followed soon after at scores of 18 and 6 respectively. Some excellent bowling by Stallions reduced the net run rate as Kashan got 18 runs off 33 balls and Captain Umer Chawla scored 32 runs off 33 balls. For Stallions, Mustafa took 2 wickets as did Saad Dawood while Hasan and Usman picked up a wicket each and there were 4 run outs in the innings.
In reply, Stallions were off to a typically aggressive start as Shahzad Anwar Arain started from where he had left off in the semi final and hit 32 off 20 and Adnan Salim knocked 54 off 35. Samad Ghani promoted Saad Dawood up the order in a move that turned out to be absolutely right as he fired 33 not out off 29 balls as Stallions raced home comfortably and won the match by 8 wickets.
Stallions are the only team to have won the tournament twice in a row and they defended their title in dominant fashion.
Man of the Match- Joint Adnan Salim and Saad Dawood Pothiawala
