Classic Steelbacks batted first against Suleman Textile Stallions at the Vanthali Premier League with their openers dominating the opposition. An in-form Muzammil Mehboob got things started with an impressive 49 runs and was unlucky to be dismissed Salman Dossani before getting his half century. Naveed Rangoonia, Raheel Asif, Daniyal Shoaib and Shahid Nepal all effectively chipped in with knocks of 26, 26, 38 and 20 respectively to take Steelbacks to a competitive 180 for 4 in 20 overs. Stallions bowlers were relatively ineffective against the opposition with none of their unit striking when needed.
In response, Suleman Textile Stallions lost opener Rab Nawaz for just 1 run. The team however were determined to get runs on the board with Rameez Mehboob contributing a blistering 71 off 42 balls including 8 boundaries. Muzammil Chaipi provided further support on the other end with a handy 52 before Steelbacks bowlers pulled back the chasing side. Shoaib Nepal and Shahid Nepal took 2 wickets each and eventually a flurry of quick wickets lower down the order including 2 run outs, restricted Stallions to 175 for 8 in 20 overs. An absolute thriller with both sides fighting it out.
Classic Steelbacks clinched victory by just 5 runs.
