Classic Barbarians v Wintex Strikers
Classic Barbarians and Wintex Strikers faced each other at RLCA Gulberg Ground as part of the 6th Memon Premier League tournament. Wintex won the toss and batted first and were off to a good start as Rameez Mehboob knocked 21 off just 10 balls and Usman Yunus Ghani played an anchor role with an uncharacteristic 35 runs off 41 balls. Danish Aziz with 14 runs and Adeel Abbasi with 22 runs furthered the cause and on a difficult pitch to bat on, Wintex Strikers were all out for just 129 runs. For Barbarians, captain Shahid Nepal was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for just 17 runs while Farhan Motiwala also picked up 3 wickets and Osama and Naveed got a wicket each and there were 2 run outs.
The reply from Classic Barbarians was subdued from the start as Ali Jiwani, Ali Bantva and Nashit fell in quick succession. Osama Ayub with 26 fought hard and on the other end Fahad Jabbar Memon brought his team close and it seemed at one point that Barbarians would race home but some excellent bowling in the last 5 overs by Strikers bowlers left Fahad Jabbar not out at 61 runs off 52 balls but unable to get his team home as Barbarians ended at 120 for 7 in the designated 20 overs. For Strikers, Danish, Sameer and Adeel took 2 wickets each while Adnan Ghazi got a wicket.
A thrilling and exciting encounter that went down to the wire with ultimately Wintex Strikers emerging as the winners by defending a low score.
Wintex Strikers won by 9 runs.
