ZMCC went head to head against Shan XI as part of the 17th Challengers Cup knock outs! Batting first, ZMCC came out strong with opener Sohail top scoring with an impressive 45 runs. His partner Shafaqat also chipped in with 17 runs. The team lost wickets in regular intervals but somehow were able to keep the scoreboard ticking with their top and middle order contributing with the bat. Danish, Afzal, Ali and Mubasshir each got off to a decent start but were unable to capitalize further. Shan XI bowlers kept the pressure on at all times with Ammad Hussain picking up 3 wickets in his spell. Imran Zia, Waleed and Kamran also took 2 wickets each as ZMCC ended at a competitive 171 all out in 20 overs.
In response, Shan XI were absolutely decimated by ZMCC's bowlers. Opener Kamran was unfortunate to be run out for duck and things only got worse after that. Aqeel, Hamza and Waleed were the only 3 batsmen to show some intent, contributing cameos in their twenties while the rest of the side imploded. Zeeshan Momia was the star bowler for his side with 3 wickets while Afzal Qureshi also took 2 wickets. Shan XI were out of sorts and bowled out for just 103 runs in 19.5 overs.
ZMCC won by 68 runs and are through to the next round.
