The opening match of The 7th Residence cup was played at SKBZ ground between Defenders and Benitoz. Defenders started off in aggressive fashion and were 100 for 0 in 10 overs but then a collapse ensued and they were reduced to 125 for 5. However, the situation was salvaged and they ended up at 174 for 8 in 20 overs. M Qasim was top scorer with 68 while Faraz Khan got 37 and Asad Butt got 28 runs. For Benitoz, Ahmed Arshad got 4 wickets for 27 runs while Qari Bilal got 2 wickets.
Benitoz faced a large target but Danish Aziz was in his element as he dispatched the ball to all parts of the park . Danish displayed his classy left handed batting skills and scored a valiant 104 off just 59 balls that included 11 boundaries and 6 sixes. He was aptly assisted by his brother Sumail Aziz who also played in aggressive fashion for his 44 off just 28 balls. Benitoz raced home with 2 overs to spare and with 8 wickets in hand. Only Anas Hussain and Hamza were lucky enough to get a wicket each for the defenders.
