Karachi Patriots v Karachi Hawks
Karachi Patriots played against Hawks in a crucial encounter of the 7th Residence cup. Hawks won the toss and decided to field first and Patriots openers Fahad Jabbar and Atif Ahmed played some exquisite shots all around the park in a partnership of 119 runs before Atif Ahmed was out after having scored 63 runs off just 42 balls. Haseeb Amin got 13 not out off 5 balls while Fahad Jabbar continued the momentum and was out only on the last ball of the innings after having scored his second century of the tournament. Fahad got 115 runs off just 61 balls at a strike rate of 185% and his innings included 13 boundaries and 3 sixes. Patriots innings ended at 212 for 4 in 20 overs. For Hawks, Anas, Israr and A. Rehman got a wicket each while there was one run out.
In reply, Hawks lost Ali Zaidi early after he had scored 9 runs but thereafter they moved forward excellently in their chase of 213 runs at a required run rate of 10.65 runs per over. Abdur Rehman got 47 runs off 23 balls, Idrees Durrani got 44 runs off 27 balls and Faraz Qazi got 53 runs off 27 balls. However after these batsmen were out, Adeel Abbasi and Fahad Jabbar took quick wickets in succession and none of the other batsmen reached double figures and Hawks could eventually reach only 194 for 9 in their 20 over innings. A good fight by the Hawks team but they fell short in the end. For Patriots, Fahad Jabbar and Adeel Abbas got 3 wickets each while Afzal Gigi got two wickets and Rizwan Merchant got a wicket.
