Super Daddy CC v Al Karam Travels
Super Daddy CC faced Al Karam Travels at Southend Club. Super Daddy batted first and Rehan Sheikh and Adeel Mansha led the team to a tremendous start as a good partnership ensued in which Rehan scored a fiery 62 runs off just 44 balls while Adeel Mansha got 68 runs off 42 balls. After their dismissals, Naeem with 19 and Shahzad Jumani with 17 furthered the cause but the subsequent batsmen could not contribute much however SDCC still ended the innings at a competitive 182 for 7 in 20 overs. For Al Karam, Zahid and Afzal picked up 2 wickets each while Imran took a wicket and there were 2 run outs.
Faced with a daunting task to chase a large total, Al Karam Travels were in a spot of bother as they lost opener Shoaib who departed without scoring a single run. Afzal with 29 and Faisal with 18 runs put up some resistance but wickets kept tumbling regularly. However, Hamza and Yawar decided not to give up and played aggressively to score 36 off 19 and 26 off 16 respectively before Imran Qureshi played a match winning knock of 48 runs off just 18 balls to hand his side the victory. The match was in the balance as the last pair was at the crease and they ensured their team won the match with 1 ball to spare as Zahid scored 8 runs not out and Imran got 1 run not out. A thrilling, exciting contest and a battle of nerves that went down to the wire and Al Karam Travels emerged as the ultimate winner. Full credit to Super Daddy CC and their bowlers who fought hard and were unlucky not to win the contest. For their team, Junaid took 3 wickets while Salman and Shehzad picked up 2 wickets each and Naeem and Ali got a wicket each.
