KPS Vs Southend Youth
Southend Premier League
KPS batted first and were off to a good start. The openers, Hayatullah and Rehan Khan were in great touch and they complimented each other well. Hayatullah played a supportive role and scored 14 off 9 but his opening partner, Rehan Khan was in great touch and scored heavily, he smashed 44 off just 20 balls at an amazing strike rate of 220. The openers did their job and the middle order carried the innings forward, Zameer Sher and Fareed Khan scored 16 and 19 respectively and after them Shehzad alos scored 14 but none could bat for long. The end though, was an ideal one for KPS as Abdul Waheed and Zahid Hussain smashed the bowlers and scored some useful runs in dying stages of the innings. Abdul Waheed scored 23 off just 10 balls whereas Zahid Hussain scored 24 off 16. On the other hand, bowlers were good in patches but most of them went for plenty. Rafay picked up 3 wickets whereas Imran and Ahmer picked up 2 each. In the end, KPS scored 170 in their 20 overs.
In response, Southend Youth were off to a shaky start as they lost Usama just for 7 and Afnan for 17 who was looking good before he was dismissed. Ahmer and Rafay then got together and stabilized the innings and carried the score forward. Ahmed scored 29 off 24 balls whereas Rafay scored 13 off 18 balls. But they could not create a big impact in the game with the bat as they were dismissed just when they were looking good. The bowlers did a good job and did not allow Southend Youth to take the game away from them. Zameer Sher was the pick of the bowler as he picked up 3 whereas Waheed and Bahadur picked up 2. There was a bit of resistance from the lower order, Muzammil and Rayan as they scored 20 and 30 respectively but that was not enough as Southend Youth fell short by 23 runs. In the end, KPS won the game comfortably.
