Wintex Strikers v Suleman Textile Stallions
The 2nd match of the 6th season of MPL was held at Asghar Ali Shah stadium. Wintex won the toss and fielded first and it seemed the right decision as the pitch was a spinning top and difficult conditions for the batsmen. Stallions lost Taha, Rehan and Umair in quick succession and Shahzad Suleman followed soon after scoring only 6 runs off 29 balls. Farhan Arif was the highest scorer for his side with 29 runs followed by Shahryar Ghani who got 14 runs and Noman Ampara got 10 runs as the whole team could only get 84 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. For Strikers, Danish Aziz was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 9 runs while Sameer Ahmedani took 2 wickets and Saad, Ahsan and Adeel Abbasi got a wicket each.
In reply, Strikers lost Tayyab R Balagamwala early but on a very difficult pitch it seemed as though Rameez Mehboob was in some other time zone or space as he displayed his class by hitting a comfortable 39 runs off 32 balls and his innings included 2 boundaries and 3 sixes. Danish Aziz supported Rameez and got 16 runs but when both were dismissed, wickets fell in quick succession as Talha, Amir and Samad Ghani all got out cheaply. Adeel Abbasi with 9 and Saad Dawood with 5 not out took Strikers home with more than 3 overs to spare and for the loss of 6 wickets. For Stallions, Imran, Farhan and Rehan got 2 wickets each.
Wintex Strikers won by 4 wickets
Man of the match: Rameez Mehboob (Wintex Strikers)
