United Energy Pakistan v Adamjee Insurance
It was a run fest at Al Mansoora ground between United Energy Pakistan (UEP) and Adamjee Insurance. On a sunny afternoon, it’s UEP who batted first and their top order looked in sublime form. Syed Khurram and Shariq Iqbal Siddiqui opened the innings and gave their team a brisk start. After the first wicket, in walked Haq Nawaz who looked to be in top form as well. He, with Shariq’s companionship, scored at a fast pace and hammered Adamjee bowlers all around the ground. Haq Nawaz scored 79 at a strike rate of 202 while Shariq scored 63 at a strike rate of 170. UEP was in a good position to cross 200 but it was Rehan Athar who got the important wicket of Haq Nawaz and from there onwards Adamjee’s bowling took command and restricted UEP to 193 runs with no other batsmen being able to reach double figures. Rehan Athar and Inaam Khan both picked up 2 wickets during the innings.
Adamjee Insurance’s start was not a good one as they lost their opener Rameez Mehboob in the first over. Their batsmen, realizing that this is a placid wicket, started maintaining the required run rate and everyone in their batting lineup chipped in with Rehan Athar who was playing the anchor role. Rehan scored 49 runs off just 24 balls. When Gul Memon got rid of him it looked like Adamjee might lose their way but the lower order batsmen hit some lusty blows which enabled Adamjee to overcome their target with 1 ball and an over to spare. Haq Nawaz and Gul Memon got two wickets each.
