Super Daddy CC played Prime HR on Saturday 13th of May at SKBZ.
It was a hot day, an excellent pitch for batting. Prime HR won the toss and elected to bat.
Ace Daddy bowler Shahzad Jumani was on song as he claimed the wickets of the Prime HR opening batsmen Aamir (2 runs) and Zain (7 runs), beating them with controlled swing and pace. Navaid Lassi chipped in with a wicket of Taimur and the prized wicket of Prime HR skipper Shiraz. Prime HR were off to a rocky start as they only managed to score 51 runs in the first 10 overs with 3 wickets down.
However, the tables were turned when top Karachi amateur batsman Abid Malik walked in for Prime HR. Abid Malik, a seasoned veteran of the amateur circuit batted himself in and steadied the ship. Soon Abid "the Tank" Malik began his brutal onslaught on the Super Daddy bowlers, the highlight of which was when Abid hit Babar Mufti for 25 runs off one over with 3 fours and 2 massive sixes. The Daddies dropped Abid 3 times and Abid took full advantage of it, hitting the Daddies to all corners of the ground, while wickets fell all around him. Abid scored a magnificent 122 off 66 balls with 10 huge sixes and 7 crispy fours. Prime HR recovered to post a mammoth total of 178.
Shahzad Jumani was the pick of the bowlers for the daddies as he took 2 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs. Followed by in-form Ali Mufti, who bowled a steady line and length and was the only bowler to truly test Abid Malik.
With the Daddies requiring 8.9 runs an over, Veteran Daddy War-horse VC Adeel Mansha and the wicket keeper batsman Nadir Akbar were promoted up the order in the absence of their regular openers. Nadir Akbar played a fantastic openers knock with a whirlwind 38 runs off 18 balls with 7 fours and a six before getting out to a good delivery from Umair.
Super Daddy Skipper Shahram Rasool promoted himself to one down and dominated the opposition like a man on a mission, hitting the Prime HR bowlers for 2 fours and 3 massive sixes…one of which landed outside the ground. Shahram hit a classy captains knock of 53 runs off only 33 balls before retiring to let Naeem Siddiqui finish the job. Naeem played his natural attacking game and dazzled the opposition with a fiery 31 off only 13 deliveries with 2 fours and 3 sixes before getting out to Abid. Ali Mufti then sealed the victory for the Daddies with a massive six.
The backbone of the Super Daddy innings was Adeel Mansha who carried the bat for the Daddies for a record 6th time. In the end Super Daddy CC chased down 178 runs with 5 overs to spare. It was a fine display of clinical chasing.
Super Daddy CC won the match 7 wickets.
