In a virtual Semi Final of the KK Women's Night Tournament, being played at the Kokan Ground, Gigi Woman's CC came up against the Athletic Club late on Sunday night.
After opting to bat first, Athletic Club got off to a shaky start after losing opener Fatima Sana early in the innings. However the batswomen duo of Huraina Sajjad and Subhana Tariq came together to propel their team to a competitive total of 97 runs in 8 overs. Huraina Sajjad top scored with 38 runs of 23 balls ( 3 boundaries ) while Subhana Tariq made 36 runs of 14 balls with the aid of 4 boundaries and 1 giant six.
Gigi Women CC started the chase with opener Najeeha Alvi scoring 10 runs of 12 balls with one boundary. However the Athletic Club bowlers kept their bowling tight and fielding up to the mark to ensure that no other batswomen could settle in and make any noticeable contribution. Areeba was the pick of the bowlers taking 2 wickets while Subhana Tariq, Soha Baig and Hafsa Khalid took 1 wicket each. Thus Gigi Woman CC could only manage 49 runs for 7 wickets in 7.1 overs.
The Athletic Club won the match convincingly by 48 runs.
