Fidato Cricket Club came up against the Akbar Academy, during the 3rd Qamar Ramadan Cricket Tournament, in what turned out to be a thriller of a match.
Akbar Academy, batting first, came off with a quick start with openers, Saleem Malik and M Shoaib scoring 15 and 30 runs respectively with 5 boundaries between them. However, it was Sajjad Mushtaq’s day who scored a blistering 45 runs in just 24 balls, with 2 sixes and 4 boundaries, to lead his team to a competitive total of 156 runs in 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers for Fidato was Noman Malik who took 2 wickets in his 4 overs,
Fidato started their chase on a low with opener Abid and middle order batsman M Irfan scoring 39 off 21 balls (7 boundaries) and 31 of 32 balls respectively. The Akbar Academy bowlers especially Zohaib Masood, who took 2 wickets for 19 runs, did not let the batsmen settle ensured that the match would go down to the wire. However Dawood Khan and tail ender Ismail played some brilliant shots to ensure that Fidato would go over the line.
