A Group C fixture of the 17th Challengers Cup saw the Karachi Fighters take on the Karachi Demons at the Asghar Ali Shah Ground.
The Karachi Fighters batted first and were off to flying start with opener Faiq Mateen scoring freely and contributed 42 runs in 36 balls, with 6 fours and a six. With the platform set, Fayyaz Hussain came out all guns blazing to score 46 runs in 30 balls, in an innings that included 2 fours and 2 maximums. The Karachi Demons fought back with Yasir Fazli and Munawwar taking 2 wickets each, conceding 36 and 26 runs respectively. Nevertheless, the Karachi Fighters scored 187 runs at the end of the innings, for the loss 6 wickets.
The Karachi Demons started their chase confidently, with Syed Umair Rizvi scoring a rapid 41 runs in 35 balls (6 fours) to set the momentum. However, no other batsmen could score big and try and lead the Demons closer to their target. The Karachi Fighters were fantastic with the ball, with Noman Suriya being the lead wicket taker. His 3 overs conceded 15 runs and included 3 crucial wickets. Fellow bowler Adil Rana also picked up 2 wickets for 26 runs. The Karachi Demons, at the end of the innings, could only manage 128 runs.
The Karachi Fighters won the match by 59 runs.
